... and pouring in some more!!!

In loving memory of "Sadie" on April 11, 2002

"Sadie" had been fighting lymphoma since October of 2001. Yesterday was a beautiful day...we all played and worked in the yard. "Sadie" played with my 3 children for hours. It was wonderful. This morning "Sadie" was unable to move move arond much, she was having difficulty breathing and swallowing. Her lymph nodes in her neck ballooned over night from the size of tangerines to the size of grape fruits. Her eyes went from bright and happy to dull and sad. I knew that the time had come. This afternoon "Sadie" died peacefully in my arms at the vet's office. I had the pleasure of being loved by this dog for 7 1/2 years. Though I miss her terribly and will for some time I feel a great sense of relief. She is no longer ill and I was able to re-pay her for all the years of unconditional love.

Our "Buddy Bear" was relieved of his misery on the 3rd of June 2002 due to lymphosarcoma at the age of 5 1/2.
God, we miss him!

My last good bye to "Mocha"  posted on: Jun 11, 2002

I took "Mocha" to the vet about 2 weeks ago after her long fight with osterosarcoma. I didn't wanna see her suffering anymore so my mother and my sister agreed with my decision to put her down. I really do miss her alot, she made my whole dog experience worth while. I can't wait to get another dog but I will always keep mocha in a special place in my heart.

Angel Kahlua - In Memory on June 12, 2002

My nine year old female, dx'd with Acute lymphoblastic leukemia in April started to lose her remission over last weekend, and this past Wednesday I had to make the sad choice to let her go. She had enjoyed a 2 month lease on life with just Prednisone and antibiotics, plus a holistic supplement with some of the same Omega oil properties of Flaxseed oil or the Rx diet.

For the record, the oncologist was very pleased that she had as long a remission as she did. As she came out of it though, she began to manifest much the same symptoms as she had going in: lack of appetite, difficulty breathing, only added to this was a progressive cough as she developed fluid in her respiratory and cardio vascular tracts. Also - she developed skin lesions that I thought at first were some kind of bites, but may have actually been the lymphoma creating sores.

Finally, I'd read that central nervous system damage becomes very apparent toward the end of this kind of cancer and I started to see that in her instability, disorientation. Not wanting her to collapse, or go into cardiac arrest or seizure, I was with her and her vet and favorite tech to the very end.

Anyone with questions is welcome to post to me at crvetti@grm.net
These are such tough dogs, I knew she would try and hang on despite the fact that she could hardly breathe.

Best of luck to all out there in this fight,
Nancy

5 yr. old rottie named "Kaiser", put to sleep on July 8, 2002. He had bone cancer in his leg. There weren't any signs or systems until 4 weeks ago and after the diagnosis, everyday it got worse. It was horrible to watch him suffer. It broke my heart to see him suffer and especially to see my boyfriend have to make the difficult choice of letting him go.

Beginning of July my 3 year old rottie was diagnosed with bone cancer. He was on painkillers and was doing very well-in fact the vet could not believe even his tumors were going down. Jake was acting "back to normal". Well Sunday night Jake went into a coma and died. Our dear pet sitter said he lost control of his bodily functions during the day and simply died a few hours later. All I can say is that Jake waited to die until he saw me leave. He went so fast. Just that morning he was running around the house with his "babies" (his squeaky toys). We buried him on his doggy bed that he slept on each and every night alongside all his babies. Jake would have been 4 on Sept 2nd. It is such a horrible disease. I don't think I can have another rottweiler....this is my second to lose to this disease and I don't think I can go through the torture again. Jake was my baby , so smart and so receptive...that's why I am so sure that he knew it was time to die without me there. Posted on: Sat Aug 24, 2002
